Sha wellness Mexico brings luxury med-spa healing to the beach

Some people leave Mexico exhausted by the holiday – I got tired of good health.

Over the past four days, I met two functional medical doctors, two nurses, one osteopath and one nutritionist. I had tested blood, body composition and cognitive abilities. I was cold immersed, wrapped in seaweed, occupied with electromagnetic waves and sprinkled with cold atmospheric plasma. I tried, got up, the rise and the pilate. I examined Shiatu and deep tissue massages, enjoyed a radio frequency face and subjected myself to Emsella, a chair aimed at the vibration perineum similar to Jackhammer, intended to strengthen the pelvic floor. I received IV treatments, talked about sexuality and aging with a psychologist and felt the agony and rush of cryotherapy. I tried acupuncture, ginger therapeutic compresses and woke up daily in a bowl of Miso soup.

And that was just some of what Shallness Mexico offers, just 30 minutes north of Kankun’s airport. Just over one year old, the health center boasts 100 rooms and suite-secila with comprehensive ocean views-and as many treatment rooms as possible in a clinic building, designed by the Mexico Sordo Madaleno-based architecture firm. It is the second post of the original JSC, which opened near Alicante, Spain, in 2008 and will be followed at the end of next year by the Emirates.

My personalized program focused on good age and care for menopause, but other visitors come to address weight loss or leadership performance in an environment that is both luxurious and clinical. Most guests stay for a week, but my four-day stay would also give significant benefits, according to Dr. Diego Martinez Conde, who runs the regenerative and elderly unit of the center, and has a medical degree from Mexico’s Anahuac University, as well as certificates in food and functional medicine.

“You are much more capable of healing when addressing your health in the most integrated way,” he tells Alexa. “We appreciate your blood, your hormone levels, your fatigue, your food quality, your sleep quality. There are many very basic living interventions that help massively, and create tools you can get home with you. We do all this with continuous medical monitoring. It is very strong.”

The JSC approach embraces both Western and Eastern medicine. (The founding family Bataller, developers from Spain, are as committed to real estate as well as wellness: the skeleton of another of their new developments, St. Regis Costa Mujeres, is very close to the pool of the fifth floor).

After my arrival, a nurse attracted some of my blood tubes. She then supported my arm on a device called Age Reader, which uses ultraviolet light to evaluate the possible transformation of proteins caused by excessive blood glucose levels. An Inbody scanner measured my muscle mass, fat mass and water content. A trio of computer -based cognitive challenges tested my cerebral operation.

Dr. Martinez Conde reviewed my results and torn my program, giving advice to difficult and encouraging accusations. During our session, he recommended that I lift up heavy weights that “is scary”, use hormone replacement therapy, increase protein intake, and carefully monitor inflammation biomarkers.

“A large part of this is common sense,” he said. “Follow it, and you can be healthier at 60 than you are in 50.”

The general ethics of JSC was one of the deep care and professional access of the staff made unpleasant situations tolerable, such as when the talented osteopathy essentially raised my body with his own, successfully adjusting my legs, arms, neck and spine at a very close distance. During the cryotherapy, I shook in the -184 Fahrenhei cabin while the technician united, “just three minutes, and so many benefits.”

Later, I tried the human regenerator, a graceful part of the equipment to remember the Iron Man films. Lying on a white leather table, I looked at the ocean while the cold particles of atmospheric plasma were shaken around me, promoting the flow of electrons across my body. The idea, said Dr. Martinez Conde, is that the optimization of the electrical balance of my cells would reduce oxidative stress and improve the production of trifosphate adenosine, improving mitochondrial function and reducing inflammation.

I was prescribed with intravenous ozone therapy, which is not approved by FDA, but is widely used in Europe to reduce inflammation and increase antioxidant production and blood circulation. This was followed by a drip of linolenic acids, selenium, zinc, vitamins C and D, intended to support hormone function and help recognize, energy and immunity.

Food is mainly based on plants and anti-inflammatory, with a lid of 1,000 to 1,800 calories per day; Fluid consumption during meals is discouraged. SHA Wellness Mexico Resort

SHA’s high -tech offers were impressive, but so was her beautiful hydrotherapy floor, traversing a lush mangrove. I admired a gold finch flying between trees while moving from cold diving to infrared sauna and Jacuzzi pool and jet.

That moment was felt as a vacation, as well as the foods, which followed one of three mainly plant-based, anti-inflammatory menus, ranging from 1,000 to 1,800 calories a day. I was afraid of coercion after I was instructed to give up on coffee, dairy, wine, meat, sugar and gluten for three days before my arrival, but the executive chef of Sha linas made attractive dishes, often including small parts of local fish. The mornings always began with Miso soup, which nutritionists in JSC say are full of digestive enzymes and promote a healthy microbioma. It was followed by Guacamole or Hummus with crudites, a chia pudding with fresh berries and a small plate of hemp seeds for protein. Dressing the house, a coconut sauce prominent with miso, cilantro and lime juice, was delicious enough to repeat at home. Lunch and dinners came with small probiotic cabbage and one side of hijiki (seaweed), to add omega 3, calcium and iodine, and to fight heavy metals.

Some of the practices of JSC, such as discouragement of fluid from meal consumption, assuming that water weakens the acid of the stomach needed to disrupt food, are scientifically controversial. There were some glitches: the room that I was initially appointed had neither a work phone nor WiFi; The nutritionist was unavailable up to half the way during my stay. But mostly, the experience was deeply restored.

My last morning, I sat on my terrace, drinking green tea and admiring the sunrise. Then I swam the laps in the warm ocean water, my strong and loose stroke, the light of my body, my soul withdrew. (And ready for a nap.)
